From August 2023, Scottish Building Society customers will be able to make their homes more energy efficient with Snugg.
We’re delighted that the world’s oldest remaining building society chose Snugg, one of Scotland’s newest innovators, to help meet the UK’s net zero goals.
How the partnership works
Scottish Building Society will present Snugg as an option for all its savings and mortgage customers, both online and in-branch. Those interested in upgrading their home’s efficiency will be directed to the Snugg website.
The customer can then simply enter their postcode and our technology will locate their property, assess potential energy savings and suggest customised improvements. We'll also provide recommendations for trusted installers and suitable grants to make sure the installation is completed professionally and as economically as possible.
Customers who want to progress with the installation but need additional funding to do so can contact Scottish Building Society to explore their options.
Why we partnered with Scottish Building Society
Our mission is to make it simple and affordable for everyone to have an energy efficient home. So we’re constantly looking for opportunities to help large numbers of people improve their home efficiency.
When we learned that Scottish Building Society aspired to drive sustainability amongst their customers, we knew that Snugg could help.
“While we know that looking after the environment is a long-term investment,” says Robin Peters, our CEO, “partnering with financial institutions such as the Scottish Building Society brings us a step closer to being able to drive real change - not only making a difference to peoples’ pockets, but also the environment.”
Given that 40% of the UK’s CO2 emissions come from homes, and 48% of Scottish homes having an energy performance certificate (EPC) rating of C or worse, that change can’t come soon enough.
Why Scottish Building Society partnered with Snugg
The partnership with Snugg is the latest in Scottish Building Society’s drive for sustainability.
“Everyone has a role in tackling climate change, and that means we do too,” says Paul Denton, Scottish Building Society’s CEO. “Driving change at a local level has an important part to play in helping us to meet the UK’s net zero goals, and partnering with Snugg is one way to do that.
“We can now provide customers with the tools and resources they need to create the greener homes that they want. Working together to improve the energy efficiency of our member’s homes will play an essential role in reducing carbon emissions and keeping our planet green.”
